Items for Further Research: 1. This project was MCA/Universal's first overseas effort, although they neither owned nor managed the completed project. Their second effort was Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. A number of the P&D staff from Wakayama went on to work on the Osaka Project. This is factual, but needs references. 2. According to one source, the Kuroshio Ichiba is the largest fish market in Japan. This claim needs research/verification before inclusion. 3. The land occupied by the iron ride park (see Porto Europa, second paragraph) was never supposed to have been used that way. After the closure of the Expo, it was to be developed as upscale condos, apartments, and town homes. This can be seen in numerous renderings and descriptions scattered about the references. The iron ride development was a stopgap. See #4 below. 4. MID, the owner/developer, apparently carried a very substantial debt load. This caused MEI, their parent, to eventually take them over, and sell off their assets. This would explain the lack of housing development. While this is an interesting line of inquiry, nearly all the research and references are in Japanese. This thread will have to be pursued by a future editor who reads Japanese much better than I do. No written reference has been found so far, but this information is almost certainly in Japanese. 6. One source has suggested the Marina breakwater is unique in Japan as the only one which allows public access. This will require verification. Oddjob84 (talk) 16:37, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Ref #1 is self published, however the writer has published articles before in other newspapers/magazines so I believe that whilst this source might not help notability (we have no idea how locations are selected for inclusion on this website) it is reliable enough to back claims sourced back to it.

Ref #2 is similar to ref #1 but it has been published by a tour company, again it doesn't prove notability.

I can't get ref #3 to load.  Done Repaired. Should load now.

Ref #4 is better for notability showing that the location has been part of a study.

I am unsure if ref 5 helps demonstrate notability because their "about us" menu link doesn't work. It could be a regional website to encourage tourism or another tour website.

Ref #6 does not prove notability.

Ref #7 is a press release and does not prove notability.

Ref #8 is a local created website to encourage tourism (so presumably ref 5 is a tour company website) and that is therefore a primary source.

Ref #9 is another study which goes reasonably in depth.

Ref #14 is primary

Ref #15 is a study based on the effects of the breakwater at Wakayama Marina City. I must admit that I am unsure as to why this has been included, there is no mention of the claim it is supposed to support in the document? See to-do item #6, above.

Ref #16 is a blog by someone who has been and is certainly not helpful to show notability.

Ref #17, a page by the architects does not help show notability.  Done confirms Ichiba size, levels, architecture

Ref #19 is a tour company again.

Ref #20 may help to show notability, it appears to be independent.

Refs #21 and #22 are duplicates.  Done These references are not duplicates. See Ref List
