Comming out
[edit]The article says that in 1998 he bcasme the first openly gay peer, but later on says that he told collegaues in a speach in 1999. Does anyone have a source for either of these facts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.72.157.4 (talk) 12:48, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
Sexuality
[edit]I agree with the comment of a previous editor that Alli's sexuality may be mentioned too many times in such a short article. However, I disagree with the removal of the final sentence (which I wrote), to the effect that he is one of the very few openly gay Muslim people in public life anywhere in the world. If he were Christian or Jewish and gay, it would not be notable. But out gay Muslims are thin on the ground, and that he has chosen to be out is worthy of mention. His sexuality is clearly intrinsic to the political battles he has chosen to fight, i.e. we agree that it is not a trivial or private detail about him. If I read this correctly, he outed himself in the course of his career in the Lords. That means he was not appointed as the first out gay lord (whatever people knew behind the scenes), so perhaps we could remove that reference. I'll leave this a few days and then make the changes if no response occurs. BrainyBabe 18:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
LSE
[edit]A tag at the bottom of the page says he is a person associated with the London School of Economics. I have just read four profiles of him, and none of them mention it. Can anyone provide justification for this? If not, I will remove the category tag. BrainyBabe 18:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Re Early Life
[edit]I just wondered how appropriate the 'mafia' label is. Is it a common term among british guyanans for successful people? Firestar47 (talk) 11:56, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
