Segregated Beach Access
[edit]Wabasso Beach was the only beach access in Indian River County where it was legal for black people to congregate..Florida being the most southern part of the US was arguably the most racist place in America..Indian River County was no exception..apartheid was the law of the land here until the 1960`s..Native Americans were forbidden to inhabit or travel near the coast which had been their traditional homes and fishing grounds..blacks were not allowed on the beach in Florida..when the laws began to change Wabasso was the only place in the county they were allowed.75.139.89.187 (talk) 06:09, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
