[edit]

I created this article after following a red link on the Minneapolis-St.Paul article. The "Caves" are a notable social venue in the Twin Cities especially for its swing night. I notice that the Target Center is a page in Wikipedia. The Wabasha Street Caves are the same sort of venue. Smaller, granted, but of great importance in the Swing dancing community in the Twin Cities. This article should stay and be expanded (by me or someone else). I am curious as to what would constitute a proper source to prove that a venue exists. Such a thing would be rather difficult to fabricate, and so I would think that the venue's own website would serve as such a source. Harperska 10:59, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added the "Cave" infobox (though it's barely appropriate for such a manufactured cave). There are a number of caves, both natural and unnatural in the sandstone along the south side of the Mississippi river through St. Paul (all the way to Mendota, MN), where the Minnesota River terminates into the Mississippi. Along with the note from others, it's difficult to verify a venue, as a venue. The STUB warning, should remain though, until some sort of /PROPER/ source for the 'gangster' and 'speakeasy' notes are. 75.73.148.241 01:44, 30 April 2007 (UTC) (My name is Gary Allen Vollink)[reply]

As an assignment for a college English course, there is a group (or two) of us working to improve the "Wabasha Street Caves" article. This will be an ideal area for us to collaborate our findings and work together to make improvements. Our initial agreement is that we are going to start out focusing on the following three criteria: 1.Comprehensive 2.Well-Researched 3.Appropriate Structure. We have begun to do research into finding and evaluating new sources. (Kelly Galvin) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fullplategirl (talkcontribs) 14:21, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also for the same assignment, but different group we are looking for good, reliable sources to use. I have found a few books on the hauntings of the caves and am looking now for information on how it was formed. These are the two main points our group would like to focus on. We are also following and trying to improve the Comprehensive, Well-Researched, and Appropriate Structure of the "Wikipedia Featured Article Criteria". Maybe we should get both groups together to specify particular actions so we can cover more ground and correspond our work to make a well structured page.(Amanda Brandt) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.99.18.65 (talk) 00:16, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Same assignment and in the same group as Amanda. I agree with Amanda that maybe the two groups could do some collaboration here. I think there are plenty of topic areas to cover considering the extensive history both social and geological. Maybe we could start discussion the structure and maybe divide up which areas the groups will work on? --Khaled —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kalhihi (talkcontribs) 02:18, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amanda & Khaled, I agree that we should collaborate. I don't want to just speak for my group but I am thinking they might agree. So far I personally have kind of focused on the history and would like to dive a little deeper into the connection with the gangsters. Either way, I think that somehow we should come up with specifically who is doing what so that everyone is making the best of their time spent on this. I really am up for however you guys want to divide it but again, I can't speak for my group members. I will post a message to them to check this page out and let us know what they are thinking. --Kelly —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.112.145.193 (talk) 19:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because we will soon have a substantial amount of information on the page, I have created section headings for both groups working on this article. Please let me know if there should be any changes made to the section titles, etc. Webb107 (talk) 02:46, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I like the general catagories that were put up. I think history is going to be a huge section so we'll have to create some sub-divisions. I was thinking for history there's going to be natural history (ie how the caves were formed), early uses of the caves such as mining (Amanda discovered that they were mined back in the 1840s and we're currently looking for more information about that), and probably on the gangster history. I was also thinking that the "haunting" section should maybe be right after history since the hauntings are sort of related to the caves' history. I think it will help with the overall flow of the article. If we all agree that the two groups are going to collaborate a bit, maybe we should decide which group is taking which sections. If we run into information that will be useful for could pass it on as a suggestion. Any thoughts? Hey guys, I'm in the group with Amanda and Khaled. Is anyone thinking of adding images? I think It would be a good idea to add one or two. Noelle MissNoelleb —Preceding undated comment added 21:52, 16 November 2009 (UTC).[reply]
