Proposed deletion
[edit]Someone proposed deletion with the rationale: I propose the deletion because the English version is different from the Dutch source. Also, the murder story of Marco is highly hypothetical and no verifiable source has been found. I object to the proposed deletion because:
- If the Dutch source means the Dutch wikipedia article, that only has one source which is a youtube link so of course this referenced article will be different. And there is no need for it to be regarded as the source, I wrote this article from scratch.
- No verifiable source has been found is simply wrong, the section has three references and I am happy to discuss them here. RTV Noord is local news, a reliable secondary source. ThePostOnline is Dutch news, a reliable secondary source. Droog Magazine is a blog published by Bart FM Droog, in itself not a reliable source but I would argue he is a subject area expert. - I came here from WikiProject Squatting. It seems like this topic passes WP:GNG, in which case it should be kept. I would respond to anyone challenging the sources. Blue Rasberry (talk) 22:51, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
My concern is about the quality of the content. The WNC(Squat) Wiki is about the history of the Wolters-Noordhoff Complex Squat. The English Wiki has a murder story added to its content which has nothing to do with the Wolters-Noordhoff Complex squat or the history of the building, and the actual WNC information comes quite short (compared with the Dutch version). Therefore, the murder story shall have a Wiki of its own. Without any doubt, Bart is a great guy with a lot of knowledge on this case but declaring him an expert is your subjective feeling. Only using Bart's findings, is just a sloppy job. Read Natasha Gerson and Wilja Jurg on this topic, and many more. Wiki's contents must be consistent. A Dutch Wiki must contain the same content as an English or German or in whichever language Wiki. There can be slight differences coming from how languages differently transport information, but all in all, it has to be the same. The Dutch and the English version are 2 completely different Wikis, and this is not ok. For this reason, I'm in favor of a correct translation of the Dutch Wiki with visuals included, and Lupi gets his own Wiki. We can link to the WNC squat, though.Haxx1234 (talk) 20:44, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment @Haxx1234:. Thanks @Bluerasberry: for also responding, it's good to have someone else commenting to prevent it becoming a dingdong between two people. It is clear Haxx1234 that you have concerns about the current status of this article but I feel like you are going about things in a weird way. Wikipedia is collaborative, so if you or anyone else want to edit the page, you can and should. But you would have to supply reliable sources or else your additions will most likely be reverted. You are ignoring what I said above about the section about the murder being backed up by reliable sources. If you have other sources, for example you mention the names Natasha Gerson and Wilja Jurg, then go ahead and add them.
- A Dutch Wiki must contain the same content as an English or German or in whichever language Wiki - please point me to the MoS style section which says that, I honestly don't think that is true. And in any case if it was, there would be an argument for rewriting the Dutch page since it is basically unsourced (youtube being the only citation, as I already said). Also we should remember the Dutch page is actually about the building so it's not even an exct match.
- I started this page with the sources I could find, I had no prior inclination to include stuff about the murder, but then I found the sources and sorry but it is disingenuous for you to claim The English Wiki has a murder story added to its content which has nothing to do with the Wolters-Noordhoff Complex squat or the history of the building. You yourself state over at WP: SQUAT, that Marco was related to WNC, he lived there and his ex-girlfriend was one of the spokespeople of this squat, so you are confirming that Marco was connected to the squat. A separate article about Marco's murder is not be encouraged since WP:SINGLEEVENT would in my opinion justify the current arrangement. Mujinga (talk) 08:53, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
