[edit]From the FAQ
Is there any backstory behind the call sign "WKRP"? Absolutely! We feel incredibly lucky to have secured "WKRP-LP" as the call sign for our station.
"WKRP" is a globally known radio station call sign, primarily due to the television sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati," which aired on the CBS network from 1978 - 1982 and in syndication for decades afterward.
Still somewhat in shock about being granted a construction permit to build the station, we were stunned to learn that "WKRP" was available as a call sign. We applied for it immediately, and received word a few days later that our request had been granted. "101.9 WKRP" was born.
Not sure how to word it, but their call letters are definitely a reference to WKRP in Cincinnati --Popefelix (talk) 16:18, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
