Corrections - The classic rock station was Z-102 and was owned by Duffy (It is also wrong on the CF Radio Guide and several other sources). The station was flipped to Urban after being purchased by Beasley-Reed. In 1996, the station went through three owners in just over 90 days. It was sold to Taylor, who sold to Omni-America (who then bought Mix 105 in the market) then Omni sold out to Chancellor who owned WOCL. Soon after the sale to Omni-America, the General Manager, Dave Donahue left and Doug Brown from Omni was moved in as GM. When the sale was made to Chancellor, Mike Gonik (WOCL Sales Manager) was made GM and founding Program Director, Duff Lindsey left to be the Operations Director at Bealsey's WQAM in Miami. Al Fiala, Research Director was named Interim PD. Cedric Hollywood remained Music Director. Just after Thanksgiving in 1997, Russ Allen, from Baltimore, was named PD and Fiala moved back to Research Director - Cedric Hollywood continued as Afternoon Drive jock and APD. In 1998, Hollywood left to be the PD at WEDR in Miami and Al Fiala became the Music Director and Research Director until 2000 when Stevie DeMann was elevated to MD and eventually PD.

Also - I don't think that WJHM stands for We Jammin Hit Music. The idea to name the station came from Duff Lindsey, Cedric Hollywood, Bill Tanner (Then the Program Director of Beasley's Power 96 in Miami), Consultant Jerry Clifton and Record Rep. Fred Held. While the station was still being formed on paper, Fred came by the a copy of the "Jam on it" by Newcleus. The song had been released earlier and was not a hit, But when the guys heard it and decided that Jamz was the way to go. Clifton like it so much be brought it to Jamz in Dallas and the Beasley owned 102 Jamz (WJMH) in Greensboro. The station was launched with a weekend of construction noise and then 24 hours of nonstop "Jam on it" The guys were looking for somthing that was close to w-Jamz but other relevant call letters were already taken.

In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
