- Is there a better way to talk about WHYY the ratio station rather than posting the frequency?
- This is standard in this type of article — and I suspect there'd be a number of readers who'd remember the frequency more than the call sign.
- With WHYY radio in operation, the focus shifted to giving birth to WHYY television, which got its construction permit in March 1956 (with the organization having changed its name to the Metropolitan Philadelphia Educational Radio and Television Corporation). seems akwardly worded. Could you smooth out the parenthetical?
- Reworded.
- Plans called for an October 1, 1956, launch, with about 25 hours of programs to be telecast weekly.[8] The station appeared ready to go on November 26, 1956: twelve city schools were being equipped with UHF-capable sets to receive the programs,[9] a two-page feature entitled "This Is WHYY" ran in a late October edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine,[10] and test patterns were being broadcast,[11] but an unexpected snag emerged between station management and the school board. feels overloaded
- Split this a bit. I wanted to indicate that there was a lot of momentum and then...boom.
- there were also concerns that the UHF station would suffer from the inability of all television sets to tune that band What does this mean?
- I've added a parenthetical here to explain this. It's kind of important.
- Is there a link for Philadelphia's Board of Education?
- Linked at first mention.
- Wilmington studios were built in a converted former schoolhouse at Fifth and Scott streets; Frederick Douglass Elementary School had been a Black school before closing due to desegregation in the 1950s. -> Wilmington studios were built on the site of the former Frederick Douglass Elementary School at Fifth and Scott streets, which closed in the 1950s when Wilmington desegregated.
- Done
- The mid-sentance refs make reading harder
- I use them extensively, but there's nothing against it.
- It moved to another former home on the edge of town
- ??? It was another former residential property. Bit confused here.
- Anything from the 2010s? The jump from 2007 to 2021 is weird
- Most of what I can find is related to radio or the newsroom (which is more radio) than this. The Delaware programming section contains a bit more late 2000s/early 2010s material as well.
- When did the station join PBS?
- Added something on this.
- Sourcing looks great
- Media checks out
