"Alternative Rock" classification
[edit]From what I have heard, the type of music played on the station is decided by the DJs. How then, can we call the format "Alternative Rock"?Adambiswanger1 16:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Philadelphia?
[edit]We're not in Philadelphia, and our signal does not reach there. We should not have the Philadelphia radio station template at the bottom, and our broadcast area should not say "Philadelphia". If anyone disagrees with me, and would like to put the template back at the bottom of the page, just write {{Philadelphia FM} at the end of the article, before the categories (add another } to the end). Just be sure to write why you think this is the correct thing to do on this page. Adambiswanger1 16:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Regardless if your signial reaches the city or not, you are still in the Philadelpha market by virture of your location. The market is definded by a Arbitron, semi based on rules from the FCC, using a concept called a Metro Survey Area (MSA), the survay areas are based upon Metro Survey Areas generally correspond to the federal government's Metropolitan Statistical Area, or the corsponding varation of depending on the area, with a few exceptions. mainly where marktes tend to overlap or where coverage overlaps. Basically any station whose siginal orginates from with in the MSA of a given market is considered to be a station in that market, regardless of the that stations transmissions reach the control city(ies) for the listed market. Since Delaware County, markets are built from the county level, is in the Philadelphia MSA, and siginal orginiates in that county it is assinged to that market, though it's siginal does not reach the "control city". This is not uncommon, for such to happen either. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 07:17, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, but perhaps to define the radio station's location using the FCC's rules would mislead the reader. I agree with you that technically it is considered to be in the Philadelphia area, but from a logical viewpoint, completely independent of the FCC's rules (which may be considered irrelevant), WHHS is strictly located in Havertown. .Adambiswanger1 15:13, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Needless to say
[edit]This article is biased, but its clearly written by people from the station. The only part i take issue with is the nonsensical part about streaming on the internet. I took it out b/c it doesn't really make any sense from an indep. observer's perspective. ```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baron Harkonnen (talk • contribs) 17:26, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
