This article needs to be merged with the article Kingdom of Württemberg because they both cover the same material and time period - until 1918. Both are fair to good articles and would be a very good article if merged.--TGC55 (talk) 02:12, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As it is now, a merger would make sense, but then it wouldn't correctly explain the full history of the state. For a different example, see Baden. The major problem with the Württemberg article at the moment is that it needs to be corrected to show that Württemberg as a state existed before 1806 and until 1945 instead of ending in 1918.
Instead of merging, I suggest that both articles be expanded. The major German wiki articles for Württemberg are all Exzellent (the de-wiki version of FA):
...so there is enough information to justify separate articles. It just needs a lot of work. 52 Pickup (deal) 06:33, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

The etymology of "Wurt-tem-berg" would be interesting to my family and other WP readers/researchers. If the city name ended in 'burg' it would mean 'city', but since it ends in 'berg' it means 'mountain'. And, as I recall, 'wurt' means 'word'. So does 'Wurttemberg' come from "Word from the Mountain"? . . . This would be interesting! . . . Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 16:39, 22 December 2011 (UTC) . . .
