I'm happy to see that another user took the time to create this article, which had been on my to-do list for quite some time. I've cleaned up a few errors of fact and some of the formatting inconsistencies. Hopefully others will help improve this article.JStripes (talk) 16:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling of title?

[edit]

The Lakota words are currently spelled Wíčazo Ša in the title of this article. This seems to have changed over the years in the journal. It is most often cited as Wicazo Sa with no diacritical marks, while on the cover of recent issues the title is styled as wicazō ṡa.

The Lakota language article does describe a gradual change in standard Lakota orthography in the years since the Review was founded. It appears that Wičazo Ša is spelled in the LLC alphabet ("Standard Lakota Orthography") while wicazō ṡa is in an unspecified newer orthography. I haven't yet found a published announcement or discussion of the spelling change. — ob C. alias ALAROB 18:10, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
