Old talk
[edit]"Plehve was traditionally believed to be the architect of the Russo Japanese War of 1904. Plehve was reputed to have said: "We need a small, victorious war to avert a revolution." However, recent research has shown that this verdict rests upon misinformation deliberately spread by Sergei Witte, Plehve's enemy."
Does anyone know where this "recent research" is from?

how is it any important?
[edit]>After he did nothing to prevent a bloody wave of anti-Jewish violence in 1903, the known double agent Yevno Azef decided not to inform on the SR plans to kill Plehve.
it's further written:
> He survived one attack in 1903 and two in 1904
i.e. regardless of the treason of azef he already knew he was hunted after the first unsuccessful attempt 77.35.183.231 (talk) 10:36, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Confusing line in introduction
[edit]>He was very conservative throughout his career and he put many on his men in government positions during his time as minister of interior.
