Merge
[edit]There is also a page Fox; probably should be merged, under one page with the common name as the heading. Snowman (talk) 21:44, 14 September 2008 (UTC) and United Candidate Land (UCL).
Tamed/Domesticated Silver Fox
[edit]The "Tamed Silver Fox" is called the "Domesticated Silver Fox" in all other areas. Trythisonyourpiano (talk) 21:51, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

The arctic fox, here labeled as Vulpes lagopus, is named "Alopex lagopus" on the arctic fox page. |

Fossil Species
[edit]Both in the Extant species section and in the Early history section, there is mention of four fossil species yet the section of fossil species lists 6 species. No idea which is accurate yet I think something should be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.176.97.27 (talk) 17:51, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
Canis vulpes
[edit]Is "canis vulpes" in the infobox a typo? I assume it is because "red fox" lists it as "Vulpes vulpes", but it's listed as "Canis vulpes" in the source. InfoManiac297 (talk) 17:27, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- It's not a typo. "Canis vulpes" is used when referring to the type species, as, in taxonomy, you always refer to the type species of a genus as it was originally formally described, even if it has now been synonymized into a different binomial. Mr Fink (talk) 18:33, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
