Vozhd is simply the Russian word for leader.--Jack Upland (talk) 03:37, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
I guess it means "boss". It also sounds near.
"Leader" must be an anglicism in the Russian language. ---Anonymous
The word from which this derives
I don't have any sources right now, but "vožd" sounds like Serbo-Croatian "vođa", which is derived from Proto-Slavic "voditi". How do you know it's from "vesti" instead? And how do you know it's borrowed from Old Church Slavonic when there's the exact same precursor to all Slavic languages? Wouldn't they more likely have borrowed it from Serbia(n) which used it first, instead of picking a random Church Slavonic word? -Vipz (talk) 00:06, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
