- ... that Vollpension employs grandfathers and grandmothers (pictured) to bake cakes according to their own recipes, and during the COVID-19 pandemic offered live baking courses from elders all over the world?
- Source: "In 2020, at the height of coronavirus pandemic, the Vollpension launched the 'world’s first Grandma Baking School'. BakAdemy is an online platform that offers on-demand, live baking courses taught by the cafe’s elderly staff, helping to spreading their knowledge and recipes worldwide.." [1]
- ALT1: ... that Vollpension provides additional income and generation-bridging interaction to Viennese grandpas and grandmas (pictured) by employing them to bake and serve their own cakes?
- Source: "But it is also a highly successful experiment in 'social good' or 'social entrepreneurship,' a commercially sustainable way to provide much-needed extra income. Equally important, it provides friendly generation-bridging interaction for older people who may otherwise feel lonely or isolated." [2]
- ALT2: ... that the Viennese café Vollpension (employees pictured) addresses poverty and loneliness in elders by employing them to bake and serve their own cakes?
- Source: "Beyond being a cafe, however, the Vollpension is seen as a statement against social issues such old-age poverty and loneliness.." [3]

QPQ is coming.Alternative hooks suggestions are welcome!

- @Surtsicna: Per a recent WT:DYK discussion, there has been loose consensus to change the rules so that a QPQ now needs to be provided at the time of the nomination, instead of up to a week after. Please provide a QPQ at the earliest opportunity, otherwise the nomination is liable to be closed as incomplete without warning. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, Narutolovehinata5. I'm on it! Surtsicna (talk) 20:07, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Done. I was not aware of the rule change. It seems perfectly reasonable. Surtsicna (talk) 20:49, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Full review needed now that QPQ has been submitted. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:06, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- I like the wholesome hooks and image! Definitely seems unusual enough to be an interesting hook fact. The article was nominated in time and meets the size requirements. The QPQ issue seems to have been handled now so everything is fine eligibility-wise. I wonder if "grandmas and grandpas" should be in quotes if it is considered informal in wiki-voice, but it does not seem like a huge issue.--NØ 12:08, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
Just a brief note
[edit]The article talks primarily about how it helps older people with employment to mitigate poverty, social isolation, and loneliness. Only at the end do we find a short snippet that says the older staff shares their skills and knowledge with younger people. In the states we call this institutional memory, and I suspect that in addition to this, there might be younger people without access to family and who are also experiencing social isolation who might go here to feel like they were being served by their grandparents. In other words, there may be a greater benefit for younger people here than is currently expressed in this article. Viriditas (talk) 22:03, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
