Regarding origin
[edit]The village mentioned as 'Vokshiq' in the 1485 register of Western Kosovo is modern Voksh I am pretty sure . TheCreatorOne (talk) 04:22, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes and the name change from Ukša (Ukshi) to Vokshiq (Vokšić) would’ve most likely occurred as a result of Stefan Dušans persecution of Catholics. So with a reversion to Catholicism (as shown by the personal names in 1571) as well as conversion to Islam during the early Ottoman era the ‘ić’ was dropped and the village name remained Voksh until this day.
- This actually causes a lot of doubt about the etymology coming from “vogël” too, it would make more sense to stem from the personal name Ukshin, which was common in medieval Albania, but there’s no academic literature on that unfortunately. Agrotqr (talk) 09:01, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
