Article split, Feb. 2016, (disambiguation)
[edit]I hope my attempt to split the article reasonably will please everyone :) ! Took some work into it by adding the right pictures etc.pp. into the new articles which formerly were mere redirects. Some WP editor with the right to start articles may set up the article Voice of god (media). Thank you for your contribution! --78.55.110.73 (talk) 18:58, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]The article Bath ḳōl is a limited version of this article as it pertains to Judaism, but covers the same ground. The "daughter of the voice" is covered explicitly here, which seems most appropriate. That article's title also uses a scholarly transcription of Hebrew that few are likely to search for; if one Googles a more usual romanisation ("bat kol"), this article shows up first anyway. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 06:15, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Metaknowledge: I had planned to oppose, but actually I want to remove everything but the theater section of the Voice of God, which is a currently a hodgepodge article with a poorly defined subject of dubious notability. "The Voice of God" is not a developed concept in Christianity and has no technical meaning for scholarly cross-cultural comparison, despite what this article implies. Bath ḳōl is a developed concept in Judaism, and is notable as an article subject in its own right. In other words, I support merging what little content is useful from Voice of God into Bath ḳōl, and leaving Voice of God as a theater article. Daask (talk) 12:58, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support merge, if done carefully. Voice of God (media) might well be split off. Whether or not it is "a developed concept in Christianity", there are New Testament mentions which can't just be cut out. There is no issue around notability. Johnbod (talk) 13:22, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support merge. All of the aspects of Bath ḳōl or voice of god can comfortably be discussed and/or contrasted on one page. Klbrain (talk) 20:57, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 13:26, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
past-tense for "bat kol" ?
[edit]quote
>It differed from prophecy in that God had a close relationship with the prophet, while the bat kol could be heard by any individual or group regardless of their level of connection to God.
why speaking in past-tense here? can people no longer hear bat kol?
