[edit]11/16/07: As a fan and follower of the collegiate and professional a cappella scene, I believe it is important to incorporate the major a cappella groups in the somewhat limited list presented on Wikipedia. There are several important groups that have not been mentioned. I started with VoiceMale because it is the group closest to me, as I am a current member. I aim to present an unbiased history and description of VoiceMale. In regards to the importance of such an article, VoiceMale has performed with many of the groups already included on Wikipedia, rivaling them in skill and notability. Their unique brand of a cappella is a step in a different direction from other famous groups, marking them as an important and potentially influential group. This importance has been recognized by RARB, in the form of awards. Professional a cappella performers have also acknowledged VoiceMales importance by inviting them to sing together with the likes of Sean Altman, the founder of Rockapella. John Clark, a producer mentioned in the article about collegiate a cappella, is the producer and a good friend of VoiceMale. VoiceMale continues to put forth high quality a cappella while at the same time pushing the limits of the genre.
Just as a side note, this is my first attempt to really use wikipedia, so I would appreciate as much advice and feedback on this article as possible. Thank you.
11/16/07: I am reading over the criteria needed to establish importance, and I think VoiceMale may meet a few. For example, Samrat Chakrabarti '97 is now an actor, with a profile on IMDB Samrat Chakrabarti on IMDB. VoiceMale has also placed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, the premier contest for college a cappella. They won second place in quarter finals in 2007, going on to the semi finals. In 2004, they made it to the finals in Lincoln Center. VoiceMale has also been included on several compilation albums, such as "The Best of Collegiate A Capella" (BOCA) CD in 2004 and 2007 and "Sing 3" in 2007. VoiceMale is also on rotation on the Emerson Colleges WERS, one of the most listened-to radio stations in the greater boston area.
