Other "Voi"
[edit]Interesting, but I was searching for the Voi tribes of the Novgorod-Kiev areas in the Middle Ages.

Why is there more info on the Halo 3 storyline than the actual city?

- Because kids these days have more communion with XBOX than they do with History. 144.134.131.186 (talk) 02:39, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Origins of Voi
[edit]The claim that the town of Voi existed prior to the arrival of Europeans is not true. The town of Voi is however, likely named after Kivoi; a Kamba chief and trader (yes, including slaves) who acted as a guide to Dr. Ludwig Krapf through whose writings he is known to History. Chief Kivoi is said to have established a trading post in proximity to Voi, somewhere on Voi River (not Voi Town, which originates as a Protectorate-era construct that grew up around the railway station). In 1914 Voi consisted of the railway station and about a half a dozen buildings most of which were ancillary to it. Voi was especially important during World War 1 as a prime strategic point (logistics) for Allied Forces combating German East African Forces.2001:8003:70F5:2400:58BB:A22B:D749:67B4 (talk) 01:37, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
