In November concerns were raised, at the moment the only source of information I have is a forum post, which first declares the source code to be incomplete, then available and then questions the same fact once again. I suggest that we take caution, or if someone really wants to declare it closed, please download and experiment with the source code. If it indeed is still not the full client you should have something that is very much newsworthy, if you are into those sort of things. -- Dront (talk) 05:32, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think Voddler is similar to hdmt.com service. But I've never used hdmt.com, so I can't be sure. Bgt (talk) 06:37, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Time for update?

[edit]

Hi - A lot has happened at Voddler over the past years, that is not reflected on the page. We have less free movies on our service voddler.com and more rentals, plus we have ancilliary services, such as free upload of own movie files to the "voddler cloud". More importantly, as a company, we are nowadays focused on building VOD-services for other companies. So we are much more like an online video provider (OVP) than a streaming service in its own right. I would like to reflect all this in the text. Ok if I, as a Voddler representative, go in and make edits (of course with sources etc). Editors can hopefully correct whatever I do poorly or let me know how to do it correctly then? (On that note, I have a specific source question: Are press releases ok to refer to as sources?) - Anders Sjöman at Voddler (also available at anders.sjoman@voddler.com or Twitter @anderssjoman /Anderssjoman 21 oktober 2014, kl 11.05 (CET)

Hi - I have now updated the text to better reflect what Voddler is as a company and the services we offer. I have tried to be as neutral as possible, but since I am an employee of Voddler, I have an innate conflict of interest, so I hope and trust others will review what I've done with critical eyes. In general, the changes I've done have focused on removing things that felt less relevant (comparisons of Voddler to services that existed in 2009; how we launched the VOD-service in 2009 and 2010) and instead added more on what has happened since in our development, with an extra focus on our streaming technology Vnet. I kept all our warts visible (the GPL controvery) that I tried to describe as balanced as possible, keeping the criticism that was there from earlier but adding Voddler's perspective. Extra critical eyes especially welcome for this section. To mirror the sources that is there for Voddler's entry in Swedish Wikipedia, I also added a source link to the actual hack that the anonymous programmers provided; I thought it fun for anyone who wanted to download the hack now five years later. (Anecdote: We actually tried to hire the main programmer behind the hack, since he obviusly knew his stuff, but he declined.) Over to y'all. /Anderssjoman 3 November 2014, 15.38 CET. — Preceding undated comment added 14:38, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
