Requested move : "religion-X's view of marriage" to "religion-X's teaching on marriage"
[edit]Involves Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Confucian Main discussion at Talk:Jewish view of marriage#Requested move : "religion-X's view of marriage" to "religion-X's teaching on marriage". Zargulon 23:52, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have proposed this article for deletion, not because I object to the topic, or the proposed move, but the content has not been cleaned up in nearly a year and is not of sufficient quality for an encyclopaedia article. At the ver least it needs a substantial rewrite.--A Y Arktos\talk 23:41, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Work still required
[edit]The deletion tag has been removed and I don't particularly object as there has been some clean up. There is till more work to be done. In conversation with the editor who had done the clean up,User:M.arunprasad, he stated "I worked on it, but later realised people all over India don't follow the same rituals. It differs from state to state and religion to religion. So It can be merged with some article instead of being a seperate article and get deleted. --M.arunprasad 11:31, 20 April 2006 (UTC)"--A Y Arktos\talk 22:48, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Marriage?
[edit]This page seems to deal with customs of the wedding ceremony and nothing at all to do with beliefs about marriage after the ceremony. "Marriage" refers to the long term, so at best, the title is confusing. --Scottandrewhutchins 16:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Which marriage type??
[edit]The dharmaśāstra texts recognize at least eight types of marriage. The content of this article appears to describe the svayamavara. Descriptions of the others should be given, especially if this article is about Hindu marriage customs. Sarayuparin 04:41, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
The name
[edit]Moved this page to Vivāha after someone else moved it from Vivaha to Vivaham. The last is a regional pronunciation of the Sanskrit term, which is accurately transliterated as vivāha. Imc (talk) 18:43, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
