TWO (2) examples destroyed by Ukraine forces... Relevant?
[edit]FriendlyFrien and I have differing opinions on this subject, and I would politely ask that FriendlyFrien does not revert my original edit again until the wider community has spoken.
My thoughts here are simple... Does Wiki really want, or even should it...., list everything Russian military that is destroyed in the Ukraine conflict? I think we all know the answer is no to that... How long and pointless would that list be? OK, if it is something 'significant' then maybe it should be noted. And while I will make no attempt to qualify 'significant' I would suggest that 'warship' might be significant, while a mass-produced tracked cargo vehicle certainly would not be.
Further, do we (Wiki) list every armoured fighting vehicle destroyed? No..., and because we don't have a list to hand. And even if if we did have that list, would we list the two tanks destroyed on Monday, the three on Thursday, the one of Friday, and so on...? We clearly wouldn't.
Including the Vityaz destroyed is just a random piece of information that somebody came across (by accident probably) that in the big scheme of themes is just not relevant. It does not belong. Now, I could go off and quote all the relevant Wiki rules that apply here, but do I really need to?
And finally, I'd add if we start listing everything Russian that Ukraine destroys, then to be fair and non-biased (and Wiki is non-biased, right?), we need to start listing everything Russia destroys that is Ukrainian.
So, FriendlyFrien I'm throwing this open for a discussion, and will go with that.
In summation, do we think the random listing of the destruction of something that transports cargo around is significant enough to be included in Wikipedia, and to anybody that says yes to that, I ask if you're interested in searching out the details of all the other equally unimportant things that the Ukrainian's have destroyed, and when you've done that, will you then move on to listing all the Ukrainian stuff the Russian's have destroyed? Balance, fairness, completeness and all that... SurfaceAgentX2Zero (talk) 09:42, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not vandalize the article by removing relevant information. The fact that DT-30s are used for military purposes is quite relevant to the article about the DT-30. If the Russians destroy a Ukrainian DT-30 we should list it here as well. --FriendlyFrien (talk) 23:36, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
