Duplication?

[edit]

There is already a section called "Applications" on the "Virtual Reality" page. Can this not be consolidated? If it really needs to be separate, then the Applications section should be removed from the VR page so people don't duplicate this work there, or vice versa.

[edit]

I found it might be helpful to add more on how VR training in Space technology. Vivid examples can be added. A good source is attached below.Vakoch, Douglas. Psychology of Space Exploration (PDF). the NASA History Series. [1] and "How NASA uses virtual reality to train astronauts". Space Center Houston. September 25, 2018. Retrieved July 12, 2020.[2] Yawen Liu usc (talkcontribs) 06:56, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here's another application that could be added: Application of virtual reality for crew mental health in extended-duration space missions [3] ProgrammingLime (talk) 00:00, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I found another useful source that includes a description of how VR can be used to simulate realistic 3D experiences of space training on the earth. Liu, Peng; Jiang, Guohua; Liu, Yuqing; An, Ming (2016-09-26). "The Utility Evaluation of the Astronaut Virtual Training System in Layout Familiarization Training". 2016 6th International Conference on IT Convergence and Security (ICITCS): 1–4. doi:10.1109/ICITCS.2016.7740376. Recent revert

[edit]

I have reverted the recent good-faith edit of @Nadiaamalina01:, but as with most large reverts I'd like to give a bit more detailed feedback: Firstly, the work of Char Davies was given undue weight - especially with no independent reliable sources to establish the encyclopedic relevance of this example. Secondly, a lot of phrases were not suitable for an encyclopedia (a few examples: "Virtual Reality work has been in the public eye and sphere for as long as forty years.", "Building on the interest in evoking experiences", "Davies is seeking to re-create the ephemeral spaces" among many others). I do appreciate that art magazines and journals use this language, but an encyclopedic article needs to present its topic in a "dry" and dispassionate language. Also, Wikipedia is aimed towards a broad readership of laypeople - topic-specific jargon should be avoided as far as possible. Use plain English terms whereever possible instead. Also, avoid analyzing an artist's motives (or the viewer's supposed feelings) without attributing an explicit high-quality source. Lastly, most content should be based on secondary sources. Primary souces can occasionally be used for uncontroversial basic information, but such sources should never be analyzed (see also WP:PRIMARY). Hopefully this constructive criticism helps to clarify some of the issues, of course the deleted content is still available in edit history or could be copied to a sandbox for further improvements. Share the love: The article did well in helping educate readers on the different perspectives of VR applications and techniques that can be used. I think that the author could a little more information that could further their article for teaching purposes. I think I liked how the article was written and all the sections and thoughts were organized. Virtual Reality Applications https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_reality_applications Follow their lead: After looking at the lead of the article I felt satisfied that I know the importance of the topic wanting to show how VR can be used in a broad form of ways. The Lead did reflect the most important information. There wasn’t really weight to the article it was mostly spanned across different topics. A Clear Structure: The sections were organized well and in a sensible order. No need for chronological ordering as it was split up into categories. Balancing Act: The length was pretty good in my opinion. There didn’t seem to be any unnecessary information in the article. It did represent all the published literature. No significant viewpoints left out. Since it was just a broad understanding of VR is used no sense of convincing was needed. Neutral Content: The perspective was unbiased and show modes of using VR in different settings. No sense of no neutrality with words or phrases. No claims were made. Felt pretty neutral content. Reliable sources: There were sections explaining where the information was learned or where it came from at the bottom. No attribution. There were some sources that seemed unsourced and could use some cleaning up in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiguelG16 (talkcontribs) 05:52, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Virtual Reality and Education

[edit]

I would like to add some information on VR and Education. More specifically how it's applied in schools and in the classroom. I have a few resources that I think will help this article. 1. Aczel, P. (2017). Virtual reality and education - world of teachcraft? Perspectives of Innovations, Economics & Business, 17(1), 6–22. https://doi.org/10.15208/pieb.2017.02 - This article speaks of teachers using teachcraft in the classroom. 2.https://www.kgun9.com/news/education/virtual-reality-opens-new-doors-for-learning-in-southern-arizona-classrooms. This is an article that shows how a teacher in Arizona used VR to have her students take field trips. 3.https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/carroll/education/cc-ccc-virtual-reality-20210913-fgkvxevk5rfe7f6ujdbeydn53u-story.html -- This article from the Baltimore Sun, it gives an example of how a teacher used Virtual Reality in the classroom to explore blood cells.

I hope that I can enhance this page by adding some examples of how teachers use virtual reality.--Volt101 (talk) 12:27, 12 October 2021 (UTC) ``[reply]
