When and why was this road number created?
[edit]The article's infobox states that the road was created in 1976. While the roadway was built then, from 1981 on I drove the stretch every day for years and it was signed as VA-195 (aka the Downtown Expressway, not to be confused with I-195 (aka the Beltline Expressway, which nobody in Richmond calls it; they call it the Powhite Parkway, which it is not), of which it is physically an extension. Some time back (maybe 2000?) a short segment perhaps a quarter mile long was re-signed as SR-146 for no reason I could determine. Strangely enough, the eastbound lanes continue for almost a mile as SR-146 despite the fact that the corresponding westbound lanes remained signed as VA-195. The signage is explicit: "END VA-146". I'm sure the renumbering had to do with whether the toll authority or the state has to maintain the road, but I have never found any definite information about it. Does anybody really know when the road was re-numbered, or why? Does anybody really care? Cwelgo (talk) 19:47, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Apparently nobody does care. *sigh* Cwelgo (talk) 08:01, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
