RFC: Proper name of article
[edit]Should the name of this article reflect new ownership and categorization under the "The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection" or should it reflect its historical name as the "Vinoy Hotel" or "Vinoy Park Hotel"? Adog (Talk・Cont) 11:59, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- This is not an RfC matter. See WP:PCM. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:46, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Redrose64: Apologies, I meant this question in the matter of what name is proper to use for hotels since I am not familiar with this subject. Will look into the other option. Thank you. Adog (Talk・Cont) 11:51, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, Autograph Collection → Vinoy Hotel – I am a bit of a clutz from above. So, recently there was a move of the article to its new status under the Marriott name. I am a local whose always known this property as the "Vinoy Hotel" or the "Vinoy Park Hotel". I am unfamiliar with the naming conventions of hotels on the Wiki, but it seems proper to change the name to a simpler version based on WP:COMMONNAME and the hotel has gone through many-many owners who have changed its name over its existence. Historical reliable sources point to the hotel as being either one of the latter names Grismer 1948 Fuller 1972 Arsenault 1988. What do y'all think? Adog (Talk・Cont) 13:01, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Support per WP:COMMONNAME. 162 etc. (talk) 18:07, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
