"The Pharmacy"
[edit]As an alumnus from Vines, I can confirm that it is known as "The Pharmacy." However, this kind of thing is hard to confirm, as anything from PISD will deny, if not ignore, the claims. Almost everyone I know, even those who did not go to Vines, can confrim it as well. How should we go about confirming this dubious distinction? -Kevin 14:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
I attend Vines
[edit]and think this is a really sorry page. If no one else thinks otherwise, I would like to clean up the Vines Page, or really, MAKE IT —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rockinbuddy (talk • contribs) 02:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC).

- I agree; this page needs help. I "graduated" from Vines last year so I believe I am qualified to do help. Let's start a to-do list--I'll find the template. --Kevin 05:39, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Notable Alumni Additions
[edit]Hello, my apologies as I was trying to improve this outdated page and was told by an editor that I was disruptive. I have added 3 notable alumni. Allan Tudyk (no dispute), Kevin McKinney (no dispute), and David Elliot Fallas (aka David Elliot). Elliot is recognized for writing, co-writing, producing, directing, or creating 4 notable works including an entire 2019 television series. That is an undisputed fact. I confirmed with him via email two days ago. Since my addition of him to the page is considered disruptive, can I ask another editors advice or guidance as how I shape this addition to be productive. Elliot has had a number of newspaper articles written about him, has credits on the wikipage for each work mentioned, has IMDB credits, actual credits on screen for the works, and more. Please, some guidance here. dericksc (talk) 19:47, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- We don't list notable alumni unless they have English Wikipedia articles to show their notability, reliable sources showing their attendance. Fallas and McKinney have neither. McKinney was/is a member of a notable group, but that is not sufficient to presume that he is individually notable. See WP:WTAF. Tudyk is notable but the claim for this attendance at this school is not sourced in his article, and the source included in this article is a dead 2006 ref copied from somewhere else. Not useful. Furthermore, the alumnus entry is not intended to be detailed bio. That's why we have a link to the person's article. Meters (talk) 21:38, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- I agree that the best way to assure notability is through a Wikipedia article. However, the bar for notability is pretty high. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:57, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- There are exceptions to the "needs an article" rule for inclusion of alumni, when we can presume notability, but with recent changes to notability guidelines these are rarer. For instance, we can no longer assume that any pro athlete or Olympic athlete is notable. Meters (talk) 00:30, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

- Much more productive dialogue. I will research and see if we can't get articles on each and improve the Tudyk citation. I appreciate the guidance. My motivation here is that this high school has become nothing more than a feeder for a larger institution and it has historically produced brilliant individuals coming from meager backgrounds. I want to capture the history. If not, it is lost forever. Again, thanks for the feedback and guidance. dericksc (talk) 01:56, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Magnolia677 Does this online publication of the school's yearbook provide enough to link Tudyk to the high school? http://www.e-yearbook.com/yearbooks/Vines_High_School_Odyssey_Yearbook/1986/Page_163.html dericksc (talk) 13:12, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Dericksc: Your source is behind a paywall, so I can't see it. There have been a few discussions about the reliability of yearbooks, but no consensus. My concern is that this source and several others say he attended a different school. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:47, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- The online page is titled "Vines High School - Odyssey Yearbook (Plano, TX) - Class of 1986" and the text description of the image in the upper left states "will Wohlander, Alan Tudyk, and Tony Szatkowski pose for an unusual group shot which". The site is dedicated to digital reprints of official yearbooks. dericksc (talk) 15:57, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
