Name change
Any such name change again should be discussed first. There are numerous cases in which the person is commonly known as Sr or Jr, see Frank Sinatra, Jr., Bob Orton, Jr., Hank Williams, Jr. etc... due to WP:COMMONNAME. Read the guidelines before pursuing another move. --Tærkast (Discuss) 19:00, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose: due to WP:COMMONNAME. - Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 06:42, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: No issue with the article title; however, shouldn't the lead section have his actual name? It currently reads as Vincent James "Vince" McMahon, Sr. I don't think the Sr. should be there. NWAjr. (talk) 04:35, 13 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't care if it's moved or not, a case could be made for either name. His WWE.com profile is named "Vincent J. McMahon" but the first thing it says about him was that he was also known as "Vince Sr."LM2000 (talk) 10:47, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Vince McMahon Sr. → Vincent J. McMahon – McMahon was known throughout his career as Vincent J. McMahon. His profile on the WWE website names him as such, as does the award named after him. He was not generally known as "Vince McMahon Sr" until his son became famous after his death, making the title an example of recentism. McPhail (talk) 22:10, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
- Point of order with one part of your argument. While folks who followed wrestling magazines may possibly have been clued in, most folks who watched WW(W)F programming during this McMahon's lifetime weren't. In the 1970s and early 1980s, during the lengthy introductions of officials which started each program, fans were told that Phil Zacko was the promoter. The only Vince McMahon they would have been exposed to was Junior, the program's host. Aside from that, Support per WP:NATDAB. - Observation: Vincent McMahon Jr. is a redlink, and this may be true of variants with "Vince" and with the comma. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 02:58, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support since these two are not usually distinguished by "Sr." and "Jr." — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 02:58, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
- Support per reasons above; WP:NATDAB, the two aren't distinguished by "Sr." and "Jr.", and he is officially recognized by WWE as Vincent J. McMahon. JJClbsnn (talk) 21:19, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
