Opinion
[edit]Go Vienna! I always feel safe and comfortable here, it's great. Forth of July Fireworks were amazing! And there's a lot of interesting history behind our city. Cool!

Distinction between town of Vienna and Vienna postal area
[edit]Would it make sense to note the difference between the town of Vienna and other areas (ie the 22182 zip code) that might also be considered Vienna.
For example, are places like the former (and original?) AOL HQ on Westwood Center Drive and the location of MAE-East (one of the original Internet peering points) considered a part of Vienna, Tysons Corner, or both? —Preceding unsigned comment added by PendletonTX (talk • contribs) 20:30, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Investigation
[edit]Anyone want to write something about the CIA investigation going on right now?
- Mm, I dunno much about it. But I did take a look at the filming of the upcoming film about the whole debacle Sean 00:56, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Wolf trap
[edit]And then there's Wolftrap. The performing place. YA know?
Hey, does anyone know what's with lots of things being named w/ wolf in the name: wolftrails park, wolftrap elementary, wolftrap, wolftrap road...
- Yes, Wolf Trap has its own page: Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, which is linked to from this article. Is there something else you wanted added? As for the "wolf" history, it's actually "Wolf Trap" that is the historical element. A stream called "Wolf Trap Creek" appeared on a 1739 map of the area, and that's where the modern usage comes from. Wolftrap Elementary, the Wolf Trap Motel, Wolf Trap itself, Trap Road (not Wolf Trap Road), etc. are all based on this...and any other Wolf names are too. -Etoile 02:50, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Wolf Trap isnt even in Vienna. It is outside of vienna :P — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lizardnerd99 (talk • contribs) 00:24, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
I suggest that you add the Shouse's to the list of notable residents. Although they are probably also mentioned in the article about Wolf Trap, they are notable residents of the Vienna area because they donated their farm to the National Park Service. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PendletonTX (talk • contribs) 20:23, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
NPOV dispute
[edit]Many statements including "James Madison High School is Vienna's greatest pride for school sports, along with the Vienna Youth Inc" seem to be made without any factual documentation. They are purely the author’s bias.
The phraseology of the article does not follow that of an encyclopedia, it sounds more like a travel brochure.
- I removed the NPOV tag because the article seems to have been re-written since then. All of the accolades accorded to Vienna have been backed up: FCPS is "perennially rated one of the best," the James Madison band program is "outstanding" because it is "award-winning," etc. I don't find a single NPOV or travel brochure-like statement here. Full disclosure, I'm a resident of Vienna. -Etoile 02:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- Guys - if you see this kind of stuff, just remove that one peacock word, unless it makes a huge difference. --Interchange88 13:47, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Temperature chart
[edit]This is a request: could someone please make an annual (avg) temperature chart a part of this page? Would help a lot. Thanks. 221.134.24.132 17:25, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
population
[edit]the population of this town is listed as a decimal. this makes me unsure of factuality of everything else in the article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.30.212.173 (talk) 21:10, 7 April 2007 (UTC).
Phil Chenier
[edit]Does Phil Chenier also live in Vienna? I never knew that and his own wikipedia article says he currently resides in Maryland. I know Buckhantz actually does live in Vienna. Also aren't there a few famous politicians who reside in town? (Orrin Hatch?) I won't change the article, but I'm pretty sure I would have know if Phil Chenier lived in Vienna. 75.75.12.89 22:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
What about our towns wonderfull town green?
[edit]Yeah, we have an awesome town green —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.73.182 (talk) 02:31, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Not a soapbox
[edit]I don't want to seem severe or anything (although I probably do), but this is not a general forum for discussing how totally awesome Vienna is (I think its awesome, too). Please, don't mire this page with unnecessary thoughts. A discussion page is for technical reasons only. --Interchange88 13:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Education section - stray?
[edit]There seems to a be a template in the "Education" section that claims it strays from the main topic. It was added a while ago and nothing seems to have been done about it. Also -
- I don't understand how it strays from the article; I think it's on-topic
- On a side note, there seem to be a lot of peacock terms and the like, and they've been there for over a year if not more.
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Interchange88 (talk • contribs) 20:51, 21 June 2010
- The education section is just fine, but the article strays into the details of school athletic and music programs, which is not really necessary at the Vienna page, but can be included at the school page. The wesel words can and should be fixed at any time... this article does not maintain a NPOV. --Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 15:49, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to fix that. This shouldn't be too hard.--Interchange88 ☢ 23:26, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
(Allegedly) "Notable Residents"?
[edit]The section of the article at hand dedicated to the voluminous list of allegedly notable residents is noteworthy in its comprising so many people no one's ever heard of. Few people beyond their immediate family care or ever cared that they exist(ed). Thomas M. Davis? Alfred D. Sieminski? Katherine Hadford? John Myung? As most of us will be, these people are long forgotten, and in almost all cases 99% of Americans have never heard of them in the first place. Nor have the majority of them done anything of much worth to anyone but themselves and their immediate families.
You or your relatives' having the ego or the obsequiousness needed, respectively, to make up a Wikipedia page for you doesn't make you notable, D.C.-area address notwithstanding. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.108.68.39.122 (talk) 07:35, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Notability depends on who you ask. If they have a Wikipedia page it is okay to put them in my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eli5678 (talk • contribs) 21:40, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
