Completely unrelated. The stroh in strohfiddel comes from the German word for "straw", while the Stroh violin is named after it's inventor, whose surname happened to be Stroh. That said, I'm looking around more, and it appears that the few people calling this instrument "strohfiddel" may have taken the wrong name from the Praetorius captions, since the word "stroh-fiedel" is also an old German term for a xylophone, which also appears on that page. For the time being, I'm going to move the article to "dulcigurdy" just to make sure I'm not perpetuating a mislabeling, and will try and find a clearer shot of that engraving so I can figure out which term applies to the instrument in question.
