Release Date
[edit]I was wondering whether 2008 is correct, seeing as it was first streamed on myspace in 07, as it says on PRR's page.Thedarkfourth (talk) 17:22, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well it's the page for a single, not a song. So it'd be when it was first released properly. Ironholds 18:04, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Ok, so I've read WP:MUSIC, but I don't see which of the listed points renders this single unnotable. After reading, it's now clear to me that the next single (Deus Ex Machina) clearly qualifies for the "promo single" point, but Victorious Cupid was an official release (even though a limited edition; but, much to my surprise, it seems that there are still some copies available for sale). Besides, it features three tracks not available elsewhere that IMHO are worth mentioning. Care to explain which part of WP:MUSIC you're referring to? Thanks! Xhm (talk) 21:02, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- WP:NALBUMS or WP:NSONGS redirects there, I believe; to be precise "Most songs do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article, such as for the songwriter, a prominent album or for the artist who prominently performed the song. Songs that have been ranked on national or significant music charts, that have won significant awards or honors or that have been performed independently by several notable artists, bands or groups are probably notable. Notability aside, a separate article on a song is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album." Its a pity, because I'm a massive PRR fan (I wrote the articles on most of the singles, actually) but there we go. Ironholds (talk) 21:09, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Mmmh, yeah, I read that also. But isn't there a subtle difference between a song (something more or less virtual) and a single (something that I can grab with my hands, that has a nice cover, a release date...)? The text you quoted only refers to songs. I mean, I wouldn't go ahead and write an article on Goshen's Remains, even though it's a great song. ;) I still don't see the difference between the VC single and the previous three singles (except for the fact that it's a limited edition, but that criterion is not mentioned on any of the pages). Sorry for my ignorance, I just want to understand this... Xhm (talk) 21:23, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and thanks for your work on the other singles pages! :) Xhm (talk) 21:36, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Heh, thats alright! Essentially the difference is that this one didn't chart. Apprentice of the Universe and TBAOM both charted, albeit not very highly, and as such articles are a must. It is unfortunate that we can't include these, yes; a while back we had people trying to delete the Jon Courtney and Chloe Alper pages as well, which was a bit of a bugger, but we managed to get them kept. - Cool, thanks for explaining. Makes some sense, unfortunately. Especially as I find this single to be by far the most interesting one in PPR's discography, thanks to the two acoustic songs that are included. I guess it's hard to hit the charts if you only have 1000 copies to sell... ;) Xhm (talk) 23:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know. I was lucky enough to get one of the copies (and you can actually see me in the music video for the Cedo Simplex remix of VC) and the acoustic songs are indeed excellent. Ironholds (talk) 23:13, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- You've got to tell me where in that video you can be seen! (I could only see that Jon has an excellent taste when it comes to headphones. Mmmh, this is getting OT... ;) Xhm (talk) 01:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

- Haha! At the Water Rat gig, I'm the ball of black hair pressed up against the speakers on the right side of the stage at the front that keeps coming in and out of camera range. Ironholds (talk) 08:14, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
