[edit]Can't we have a better resolution picture of Bergman? Also, I very much doubt that he is third in command, as evidenced by his plain sleeve. Plain sleeves are those of 'unofficial' personnel like Commisioner Simmonds. The chain of command does seem a bit varied at times, Paul Morrow I would say is the definite second in Season 1. - I put that information but I'm also not that sure. I think that all Space 1999 content needs to be expanded on Wikipedia... for now I'd leave the reference to rank as it is, and would address the issue when we have all the main characters and section with a Wikipedia page. Perhaps the command structure should be mentioned somewhere on the main article? Ricnun 11:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
New Photo Needed
[edit]I would agree that a new and improved photo of Dr. Bergman is needed...the one in the article is terrible.
- Righto, I'll get one up tonight as soon as I can. Douglasnicol 17:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
This is a much better photo. Thanks! The only two other photos I saw that could use some improvement are those for Maya and Tony Verdeschi.
Barry Morse is dead :(
[edit]Hope I'm doing this right... Barry Morse has died :(, according to this article on CBC news (the article is dated 4th Feb 2008, not sure if he died on the 3rd or 4th though) http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2008/02/04/barry-morse.html Evildrganymede (talk) 22:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Reason why Victor was not in season 2?
[edit]The last paragraph: "In real life the reason for Professor Bergman's absence after the first season was due to a contract and salary dispute between the actor Barry Morse, who portrayed Victor, and the show's producers. When the dispute could not be resolved Morse chose to leave the series and thus his character was eliminated."
Can we get a citation for this? There are a lot of rumors floating around explaining Victor's absence from season 2, but I've never seen concrete proof of any. The most believeable explanation I've heard (from an interview on the A&E DVD set I believe) was that the producers wanted to attract a younger audience so they brought in the character of suave & sexy Tony as well as Maya in the second season. But again, I don't have proof that this decision was directly responsible for Victor's disappearance. Does anyone have the facts? Wikisicky (talk) 01:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'll have a look, but Tony seemed to replace Paul Morrow, and there was no other reason to get rid of Bergman. I'll check it out though. Douglasnicol (talk) 15:06, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I've added a citation from "Destination: Moonbase Alpha", chapter "The Disappearance of Professor Bergman" which quotes verbatim from BM using his diaries as chronicled by the author, Robert Wood. The diary material was made available to Wood as BM's biographer prior to his death. regicide1649 (talk) 00:46, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
