Reasons Behind Cancellation of the Latest Leg
[edit]Has the identity of the family member who is ill been released? If the identity is know, should it be kept off this page? (I think it should be, until such time that it is released, if indeed it is released.)
Kat 05:32, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- Although it is widely known, I don't think it was offically released or reported by a news source. --Kristbg 11:50, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Better pictures?
[edit]Can someone who took photos in concert please add some better shots (of your own, that is)? It's hard to make out anything going on in the first and third photos and I think it would really make the article look better. Y2kcrazyjoker4 14:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Two points: One, you cannot use the Live From Chicago video release screenshots that you added into this article, as that is not fair use; you can only use them in the Vertigo: Live From Chicago article, that is, the article that directly describes what the screenshots are from. Second, there's nothing wrong with dark concert photos. Most of the time, concerts are dark! Wasted Time R 23:25, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
"Likelihood" that there will be another Vertigo tour DVD
[edit]The claim that there will likely be another Vertigo show released on DVD should be removed until there is a reliable source to support it. Otherwise, it is only someone's wishful thinking.--Truthiness 07:39, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- If you check out Solo Too's website, and click on the third video down on the left-hand side, a video of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" pops up with the text "work in progress." --McMillin24 contribstalk 21:10, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I don't think that this clip is enough to reach the conclusion that the Milan shows will likely be released on DVD. One could also speculate that the Buenos Aires shows will also be on DVD because both of those shows were also filmed and broadcast on Argentinian TV. Until we hear from better sources that the shows will be released, I think we should hold off on speculation.--Truthiness 18:57, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
I inserted the statement that Bono told the crowd at the Milan shows that the extra cameras in the stadium were there for a possible DVD. However, the band has been known to film things and then change its mind later in regards to releasing material publicly. As you mentioned, the band has used some of the Milan footage for a fan club only CD-ROM, and it is very possible that the shows will not otherwise see the light of day.--Truthiness 20:21, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I inserted the recent report from London of Adam Clayton telling fans that Milan will probably not be released on DVD. The citation requires registration, so I didn't put in the main text, but here it is if anyone wants it:[1].--Truthiness 23:44, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Milan DVD is to be released as the bonus disk for U218 217.42.227.230 22:30, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
It should be noted that the above mentioned bonus disk is only a portion of the Milan concert. It is however the only scheduled release of said performance. [01:58, December 31, 2006 Darth karl]
Tour Dates section wanted here?
[edit]User:85.107.18.15 has added a section with all the tour dates. A lot of other tour articles have this, but the U2 ones haven't (and neither have the Springsteen ones). Do we want such a section? I think it's pointless ... we have an ext references to u2tours.com and other sites like that which have full lists of the dates and set lists ... I say, keeping such information here is beyond the scope of what these articles should do. What think others? Wasted Time R 23:56, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Personally, I like it. In addition, it would be nice to know who opened / will open for U2 at each concert - especially considering some of the bands (Snow Patrol, Kanye West etc) which they have had opening for them. Another column perhaps? Willnz0 02:23, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think there were that many opening acts - ie, each act played for a reasonably long stretch. THus, I'd suggest that if there was another column, it would be fairly repetitive. Could we state instead that say "Kanye West was the supporting act between XX date and XX date? --Merbabu 06:09, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree, that would be better. Willnz0 04:29, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Subsequent update - the tour dates section was removed by User:Y2kcrazyjoker4 as "not necessary for an encyclopedia article." If future editors decide it should be restored, the last version before deletion may be found within http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vertigo_Tour&oldid=94572379. Wasted Time R 15:48, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Subsequent subsequent update – the tour dates got added back in November 2008 by User:Ilikeeggs1 with additional formatting by various IPs. My position on these in general has become, I still think they are unnecessary and I don't add them myself, but I don't advocate taking them out if someone else adds them. Setlists
[edit]Should we organize the setlists by leg rather than by overall main set and encore? The changes in each seem significant enough to warrant each having its own section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phillies26 (talk • contribs) 03:26, 3 December 2006 (UTC).
If there are no objections I will re-do it for the different legs for better organization. Phillies26 15:49, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- I object. The show and the set lists have been substantially similar across all legs. The current organization is sufficient; what you propose would just result in a lot of duplicate descriptions. Wasted Time R 17:53, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, then possibly a subarticle in the set list about the changes from leg to leg? It was actually pretty diverse, though I can see your point. I'm now thinking maybe just a summary of the unique features of each leg. Phillies26 21:04, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm still not getting it. What is there to know that isn't covered by the current description in the article? Wasted Time R 21:28, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- OK, now I see from the subsection you added. Some of this duplicates what the existing description already covered, and much of the rest of it, in my opinion, falls into the category of Way Too Much Detail. Also remember that a lot of this detail can be pushed down into the individual song articles, which often describe their appearances and arrangements across the whole U2 concert history. The Stage
[edit]While Willie Willams was responsible for video and show direction, the actual production was designed by Mark Fisher, who has been responsible for every U2 tour since 1992's ZooTV, as well as stages for numerous other artists including The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. [01:58, December 31, 2006 Darth karl]
- Fisher was subsequently included in the article as well, but a cited sources as to who did exactly what would be good. Wasted Time R (talk) 23:42, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Tour Gross
[edit]It seems doubtfull that the tour grossed '$260 trillion' seeing as this is significantly more than the total WDP. i don't know if trillion was aciidentaly substituted for million or if this is a completely false number. anyone know the right figure? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jkdriscoll (talk • contribs) 21:32, August 23, 2007 (UTC).
- Was some kind of random vandalism. The tour finally grossed $389 million, which is the cited figure now used in the article. Wasted Time R (talk) 23:42, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Amsterdam ArenA
[edit]I removed the 1 before the '60ksomething' attendance at the Amsterdam ArenA. The Amsterdam ArenA seats approximately 50.000 people, there's no way in hell that there were 160.000 people at that concert. There might have been 10k on the field and 50k on the stands, but 110k on the field is physically impossible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.194.227.99 (talk) 22:54, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
