Wondering if anyone could clarify if adding the logo would violate fair-use? The programming language is 'proposed' to become open sourced but is not yet- and I cannot find a clear link anywhere on the web to the logo, but it does appear in the .vsix extension from epic games required to write verse code so I do have a copy on my pc of it, but I wont upload until I'm sure it does not violate law/rules. For context, it's the logo appearing on the right in the thumbnail of this video Cwootten13 (talk) 20:22, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's fair use rules permit using copyrighted logos only in the article whose subject that logo represents. This has already been done in similar articles (see the article for Java), so you should be good to add the logo, but the rules do get a bit iffy, especially for smaller articles. Just upload the file to Commons[1] and then add it into the article here. Worst-case scenario it gets reverted. RyanAl6 (talk) 22:06, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Verse Background Source

[edit]

A rich amount of Verse background information can be found on the SkookumScript Origin web page[1] which Epic owns and operates. This would be a good place to mine for data for this Verse wiki entry. Locupletate (talk) 21:38, 17 June 2024 (UTC) Locupletate (talk) 21:38, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can validate this. Skookum's creator Conan Reis is somewhat active on X and the Epic dev forum in topics Verse related. Also, on a side note (not to be considered for the article whatsoever) since he's not a titled author on the original research paper SPJ released, it makes me wonder if Epic acquired Skookum to use as their 'base' for Verse? Regardless of my speculation, the facts are: Conan Reis created Skookum and is now/or was employed by Epic, Epic owns Skookum, both Verse and Skookum share a blend of object oriented, and functional logic programming paradigm, and they both interface and compile with Unreal Engine, although the former has other means of deployment as well.
