Cleanup-external links
The original layout is sloppy and needed to be freshened. The external hyperlinks are blatently advertising Vernon's attractions, rather than expressing unbiased details about the city. Recent editing by *homosexual*.
This article is laced with inline external links, and the external links section contains a long list of links about just anything connected to Vernon, informative and commercial alike. See WP:NOT. Many of the subjects covered by those links may already have their own wiki articles. Other are not informative of just commercial/advertising/spam links. The article needs cleanup of external links. I would do it, but I'm not familiar with Vernon. --Qyd 15:39, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've just cleaned house. The official town website ought to be sufficient for external links, it ought to then link to any other important town websites. The rest are not useful here (WP:NOT a travel guide). --AbsolutDan (talk) 05:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Vernon crest.gif
Image:Vernon crest.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Photos, parks and Arts/Culture mention
Thank you for the article on Vernon, its generally well done. I have a few suggestions however. I was raised in Vernon for the first 20 years of my life and I know how ridiculously stunning it is, and the choices of photographs is a little less than flattering admittedly. There was no mention of Polson Park as well, or many of the other parks or hiking trails, in particular it would be worth mentioning BX falls, Ellison and Locheed Park. You may also consider adding into the arts and culture in regards to the mural project that has taken place in downtown Vernon as well as the Vernon Art Gallery, VCAC (Vernon Community Art Center)and Vertigo. Population stats etc.
Please note that the population figure in the lead paragraph and the one in the fact box (below the map) do not agree even though they are both purported to be for 2006. Also note that Tourism BC (provincial gov.) has a more current figure of 38,968. http://www.hellobc.com/en-CA/RegionsCities/Vernon.htm
Please also note there are three citations for the winter carnival reference in "arts and culture" (9,10,11). Only one is needed (9). The two "brochure" citations should be deleted as a promotional brochure is not an authoritative source; and the two are redundant in any event.
One last suggestion: Sean Harvey "disgraced ex-mayor" should probably not top the list of notable Vernonites. Domlacasse (talk) 22:57, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- The only officially recognized population statistics in Canada are taken from the Census. I have corrected the infobox to reflect this. Tourism BC statistics should be avoided, especially considering they are not the national authority on population statistics and make no reference to where they got those statistics. Further, there is no reference of what year that statistic is from, so there is no way to firmly assert if they are indeed more current. – Nurmsook! talk... 00:25, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
old military camp
I don't see anything about CFB Vernon or whatever it was called, so didn't know where to put this. File:Military training camp, Vernon, British Columbia, 1915, bird's eye view (HS85-10-30574).jpg.Skookum1 (talk) 06:30, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Especially since it was better known as Vernon Army Cadet Camp (and various other official DND names over the years), and a significant portion of Canadians and a few Americans who would have been to or heard of Vernon would have done so because of going to cadet camp there (or a relative going).
