Merge proposal with Ruditapes decussatus

[edit]

I propose that this entry for the Cross-Cut Carpet shell clam/Venerupis decussata be merged with the entry for the Grooved carpet shell clam/Ruditapes decussatus. The taxonomy section in this entry states that Venerupis decussata and Ruditapes decussatus are synonymous.

The Encyclopedia of Life (http://eol.org/pages/3060328/names/common_names) lists Grooved Carpet Shell clam as the preferred English vernacular name for Venerupis decussata, and Cross-Cut Carpet Shell as an alternative. It also confirms the synonymity of the two.

Linkage issues exist: the French entry for Venerupis decussata links to the English entry for Ruditapes decussatus. Ruditapes decussatus in Italian wikipedia redirects to Venerupis decussata (it's the clam traditionally used for spaghetti alle vongole/vongole veraci).

Is there a specific merge request to make outside of the talk pages? Faff296 (talk) 04:11, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
