[edit]Opening paragraph is terrible! Compare to randomly googled definition: "Vein minerals are those that form in fissures in the existing rock, either thru deposition by mineral saturated hydrothermal fluids, or injection of magma and subsequent cooling." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.180.190.187 (talk • contribs) 18:05, 9 January 2010
Stringer
[edit]Can anyone confirm that "vein" is synonymous with "stringer"? This source seems to indicate that it is, or maybe that it is more specifically a small vein?

- See stockwork altho that stub is unsourced. Network of small, often discontinuous, veins or veinlets ... often associated with breccia pipes or intensely fractured host rock. Also used for small aplite dikelets (got a cut slab showing that somewhere ...) But, that's off the top o me head. Check with a good ore deposit book to amplify that brief USGS glossary bit. - Guilbert and Park Geology of Ore Deposits index simply says see stockworks, anyway... Vsmith (talk) 15:39, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Interesting. Thanks for the lead, cheers! AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 02:11, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I'm going to go through later today when I have time and insert some sources. Skolithos (talk) 13:46, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- I added as many reliable sources as I could find in the time I had. I'll leaf through my textbooks later and try to verify some of the rest of the information in the article. Skolithos (talk) 15:09, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
