Scope

[edit]

What should the scope of this article be. Should it just be about the plates issued by the Palestinian National Authority, or should it be about Palestinian territories plates in general, including those issued by the Israel government to the settlers. If this is just going to be about PNA plates, then this article should probably be renamed "Vehicle registration plates of the Palestinian National Authority" to match Postage stamps and postal history of the Palestinian National Authority. If this should be about the Palestinian territories plates in general, then maybe it should include some information on the difference between the rights of cars with PNA vs cars with Israeli plates, I think Settler cars, which are issued Israeli plates, are exempt from allot of checkpoints and other security measures, but can't access some Palestinian only roads. Conversely, I think Palestinian cars, which are issued PNA plates aren't allowed to access some settler only roads. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 03:39, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be only about PNA plates. I think Israeli settlers utilize Vehicle registration plates of Israel, so no need for them to be duplicated here. Information about what cars can go over what roads can be included briefly, but its main location should be in other articles such as Road transport in the Palestinian territories or Transport in the Palestinian territories. Should the article be moved to Vehicle registration plates of the Palestinian National Authority? Japinderum (talk) 08:19, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If this article's scope is to be limited to PNA plates, that would be the best title. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 08:25, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's scope is already the PNA plates, isn't it? Japinderum (talk) 15:25, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you agree, please move it. Japinderum (talk) 16:54, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's de-facto scope is PNA plates, but it wasn't clear to me what it's intended scope was, weather or not if was intended to be limited to PNA plates. Sense your the only percipient in this discussion, and you say "it should be only about PNA plates", I guess that means concurrences is that this article is limited to PNA plates (with the exception of the "1967 - 1994" section) so I'll go ahead and rename it.
With what's been happing recently we may soon rename our PNA articles, to SOP titles, but that's nothing that effects this page in particular, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 12:49, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. As I said at Talk:Palestinian_National_Authority#Abbas_changes_PNA_name_to_State_of_Palestine - the sources show that even if PNA is merged into SoP, PNA will continue to operate (regardless how it's referred to by Palestinians, e.g. "SoP Oslo department", by Israel, e.g. "Palestinian Authority", by UN and others, e.g. "Palestinian National Authority" or "SoP Oslo department", etc.) until Israel occupation remains, so we should be extra careful how we title the current PNA articles (and what tense we use inside) - I think that a clear distinction with the "pure SoP" articles is needed. But we need the sources to lead us here, not vice versa. Japinderum (talk) 07:33, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tubas and Salfit Governorates missing so far, probably also with N West Bank (4, 7)
