Tuluva or Kannadiga?
[edit]Unless reliable sources can be found verifying his ethnicity either way, I suggest we remove the language template altogether and concentrate on improving the article which is virtually unintelligible and doesn't even begin to conform to the Manual of Style. This is probably covered under WP:OR and WP:GRAPEVINE which says "Remove any contentious material about living persons that is unsourced". Copana2002 (talk) 18:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Heggade is Kannadiga, http://www.deccanherald.com/Content/Dec12008/district20081130103860.asp. C21Ktalk 12:45, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I went ahead and removed the lang template. Heggede has received awards from Tulu organizations and Kannada organizations (and is involved with them as well in other ways) suggesting that he speaks both languages. Based on the sources that have been used to verify his ethnicity, I would say it is inconclusive. Until it can be established definitely I suggest that the lang template not be included on this page. There are more constructive edits to be made in this article. It needs a lot of work on grammar, clarity, and adherence to the Manual of Style. Copana2002 (talk) 19:56, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Awards and recognitions
[edit]Sorry I had added Tulu in the article without discussing. I have undone it. One point that we need to discuss regarding his ethnicity is about the educational institution he runs. This institution he runs is deemed as a linguistic minority institution by the State Government. That means it can only be run by a native speaker of minority languages. In Karnataka Tulu and Konkani are minority languages. SDM institution run by Mr. Veerandra Heggade is a Tulu minority institute. This can be verified by visiting the SMD institute website and other sources I had mentioned earlier. I guess that is sufficient to proved his Tuluva roots. Also check the Tulu Jain article in wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.96.188.49 (talk) 17:07, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Please check this link which gives the list of minority institutes in Karnataka http://www.adhyapak.com/common-entrance-tests-cet/203-engineering-colleges-comes-under-comedk.html You will find Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering & Technology run by Mr. Veerendra Heggade —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.96.188.49 (talk) 17:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Atleast one reliable source says Heggade is Kannadiga [1]. well, as i said in tuluva talkpage Heggadde is Tulu-Kannadiga(who speak both languages).
The best solution is to add both langauge or just not mention anything about it. C21Ktalk 10:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Whats this Tulu-Kannadiga thing, Its proven beyond doubt he a Tuluva. A person can have only one ethinicity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.96.188.49 (talk) 15:22, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- you proved nothing!!... wikipedia accepts what reliable sources says, not what you or me assumes. C21Ktalk 19:36, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
The links i provided clearly indicates his mother tongue. Since a person only with Tulu as his mother tongue is allowed to operate Tulu minority instutions. What more do you want? Requesting to re-instate Tulu in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.98.11.151 (talk) 16:43, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Your links doesn't indicate anything about his mothertongue. and your assumption "person only with Tulu as his mother tongue is allowed to operate Tulu minority instutions" is quite funny. there is no such rule in Karnataka. C21Ktalk 19:36, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
That show your knowledge of Karnataka, then tell why these linguistic minority institutions are made? As a rule it can be operated only by native speakers of minority languages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.99.174.241 (talk) 17:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Links supporting him as a Tuluva [2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.98.11.151 (talk) 17:02, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Which link?? kerala.com is a mirror of wikipedia. do you know , there are so many mirrors. see WP:MIRROR . C21Ktalk 19:12, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Adding Tulu and Tuluva links in the article, since there is sufficient sources that proves him as a Tuluva.
- Sufficient sources?? how many sources?? you still failed to provide single reliable source. C21Ktalk 19:13, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
What more do u want than the Tulu minority institute he runs. Just explain this to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.99.174.241 (talk) 17:45, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- all my sources(which i included in this article) mentions him as Kannadiga and your source says he is Tulu. so accept the fact that he is Tulu-Kannadiga. C21Ktalk 14:01, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
A native speaker of Tulu language is a Tuluva. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.30.8.152 (talk) 19:33, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Link to prove his ethnicity.[1]. This closes this discussion. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.51.33.215 (talk) 11:01, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Improving article
[edit]- "Under the leadership of Dr. Heggade, Dharmasthala witnessed the first Mahanadavali of this millennium during February 2005." Why is this notable or significant? Also, Mahanadavali needs to be explained. The article has to be understandable to people who don't know anything about the subject.
- "In 1993, during silver jubilee celebrations of his Patthabhisheka, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then President of India, called Veerendra Heggade Rajarshi." Why is this notable or significant? Patthabhisheka needs to be defined and it needs to be clarified whose Patthabhisheka it is. Copana2002 (talk) 20:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Suggest to start Awards and Recognition section
[edit]Shri Heggade has received multiple prestigious awards at national and international level. I suggest the primary contributors to start an award section as Shri Heggade as he brought glory to worldwide jain community by his conduct and social activities.Mahaveerji (talk) 08:12, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
