The Four Seasons - Vee-Jay - The Beatles
[edit]When the Four Seasons were on tour in England, they heard the Beatles' "Please Please Me" on the radio there. Frankie Valli planned to record it upon their return to the States, but was talked out of it by composer/band member Bob Gaudio, who had a different idea for their next hit ("Walk Like a Man"). Valli then suggested to a Vee-Jay Records official to give the Please Please Me album a listen and see if they could pick up U.S. release rights to the songs. The rest, as they often say, is history. 147.70.242.40 16:35, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting lineup in the March 21, 1964 Hot 100: #1 She Loves You (Beatles/Swan), #2 I Want to Hold Your Hand (Beatles/Capitol), #3 Dawn (Go Away) (Four Seasons/Vee Jay), #4 Please Please Me (Beatles/Vee Jay). The next week, the Seasons get kicked out of the Top 5 as the Beatles' "Twist and Shout" (on Tollie) essentially takes its place.147.70.242.40 16:43, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

sparse history
[edit]The article for Introducing ... The Beatles mentions gambling by the president using company funds may have contributed to the label's financial problems. This fairly well known aspect which is included in several news stories about the company is missing from this and other Vee-Jay associated articles about the founders. The entry for Ewart Abner minimizes his leaving as having a "business disagreement with his partners". Catalog contents
[edit]Per WP:NOTADIRECTORY#6, a catalog entry is not appropriate, because record labels are just like publishers and the guideline specifically says work catalog of publishers should not be created in an article. The addition was an undiscussed bold addition by one editor who did so without leaving any summary in Special:Diff/908801105 and I oppose the addition, no matter how long ago it may have been. Reverting that edit. Graywalls (talk) 04:44, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
