[edit]The detailing about Goddess Saraswati can be moved to the Saraswati page. This one needs to focus on the fesival.

Proposed merger
[edit]I don't think the two articles of Basant Kite Festival (Punjab) and Vasant Panchami should be merged as Basant Festival article is specific to the Punjab region. (User:Malikhpur)
- But they are the same festival, right? Wouldn't this represent a WP:CFORK? For example with the article Chinese New Year we don't have a separate article for Chinese New Year in California. Instead we have a subsection at Chinese new year#Festivities outside China which discusses the California celebration. Or for example we can look at Christmas traditions which has subsections for a huge number of different places where the holiday is celebrated. We don't have separate articles for Christmas Day (for English celebrations), Noël (for French celebrations), and Navidad (for Spanish celebrations). -Thibbs (talk) 02:36, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
@Thibbs: Okay, but how would the merger be dealt with? (User:Malikhpur)
- The merged article would start with a general discussion of the festival (i.e. common aspects of Vasant Panchami and Basant Kite Festival) and then it would have a section on regional practices. If the activities of the Basant Kite Festival are particularly significant then they would have their own subsection within the parent article. -Thibbs (talk) 17:29, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
@Thibbs: Sounds good. Let me know if you want me to do anything. (User:Malikhpur) 18:34, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
