Time for a little cleanup in the Marvel Universe?

With Vargas we now suddenly have normal humans with superpowers. In how many categories can the superhumans in Marvel be divided into?

At least two different types (humans only, aliens and robots excluded):

1) Those who are genetically born with potentials, and 2) those who are manipulated and transformed in other ways. The last type means those who are changed because of some strange outerworldly or cosmic force, like the Phoenix force or Captain Universe, those who are changed because of magic or mystical powers like Juggernaut or Spider-Man (or have learned how to control it, like Dr. Strange), those who are transformed because of modern genetics and such (like Fantomex in the Weapon Plus Program), and freaks of nature like the mummudrai Cassandra Nova and others.

The main source of the powers in all the remaining superhumans seems to come from the Celestials. What is excluded here are some sidebranches from the human race;

"About one million years ago, the Celestials arrived on Earth and experimented on the ancestors of humanity. This created two new races, the Eternals and Deviants, and gave some humans the ability to develop super powers (thus providing the potential for the existence of mutants and other superhumans later on)."

And; "At the beginning of the Kree-Skrull War, millions of years ago in Earth time, the alien Kree established a station on the planet Uranus, a strategic position between the Kree and Skrull empires. Through their work at this station, they discovered that sentient life on nearby Earth had genetic potential invested in it by the alien Celestials. Intrigued, the Kree began to experiment on Earth's then-primitive homo sapiens. Their test subjects, eventually dubbed the Inhumans, went on to form a society of their own, which thrived in seclusion from the rest of humanity."

Also; "It was later revealed that the ultimate source of all Mutations were the enigmatic Celestials, who had come to Earth one million years ago and performed genetics experiments on proto-Humanity that would allow future generations of humans to gain superpowers."

Since it at one point was born more and more mutants among normal humans, and threatened to take over the world, it shows that the genentically changed "celestial genes" are present in all humans.

By looking at the remaining humans on the planet earth and their common gene pool only (as mentioned excluding the Inhumans, the Eternals, the Deviants and races like Homo mermani), all we have left is so called "normal humans", which is the main characters in the Marvel Universe. These can be divided into three main groups:

1) "Normal" humans/non-superhumans (no possibilities to activate the "celestial gene").

2) Mutants (humans born with a mutation that causes the genetic potential planted by the celestials to be activated on its own, causing the powers to manifest themselves from birth or in puberty).

3) Superhumans (normal humans without the mutation mentioned above, and where the latent potential of the human race has been triggered by some outer source, like radiation or chemicals. This would often kill or have negative effect on non-superhumans)

(And maybe a fourth as it seems like there are even fewer humans who can be transformed into superhumans by being exposed to gamma radiation. This could be a sub-group of the superhumans, caused by a mutated version of the same gene that has created all the other superhumans (except mutants). It often seems to be present some feedback mechanism between the body and mental state of mind when people are transformed because of gamma radiation, as seen with Hulk and The Leader. Their skin also usually turns green, and they seems to be transformed back to normal humans again once the gamma radiation are removed from their bodies.)

But then we have at least three problems;

1) Rick Jones. At one point, the Supreme Intelligence of Kree altered Rick's DNA to release his "latent powers and full evolutionary potential", called the Destiny Force, causing Rick Jones to have godlike powers and unlimited psionic potential. According to the Supreme Intelligence all members of the human race has this potential. But it was too much for Rick's fragile human physiology, and he would have died if not saved by Captain Marvel (maybe a character like the Hulk would have been strong enough, and he seems to be able to adapt to almost verything, like there is an ongoing evolution in his body). The question is if this potential which all humans have in common is because of something that was already present in the ancestors, or is it something that was created by the celestials? Either way, it proves that the human race still has a long way to go before its true potential can allowe itself to be activated. It is still on an evolutionary level that is a little too low. Perhaps the mutants and superhumans are some early sidebranches where their superpowers are just side effects of the experiments, where the celestials have much bigger hopes for the future of human evolution? Some mutation in the altered part of the human gene pool that has caused superpowers to emerege at an early (too early?) stage in the evolution and on a level where the humans can handle them? Because of all the variation, it seems to be some unstable of nature. Another question is if these superhumans and mutants would ever be able to reach the same stage which the non-superhumans has the genetic potential to evolve into somewhere far into the future. After all, Vargas called mutants a blind path in the human evolution.

2) Vargas. Because he is not a mutant, and seems to be born with his powers (claiming he is the real Homo superior), there are at least four alternatives. He could be the result of a unique and new form of mutation which is not the same kind as seen in other mutants. Instead of a mutation who releases the potential already present in humans, it is perhaps the mutation itself who is the source of his powers. This mutation has maybe occured in a part of the human DNA which was not altered by the celestials (or in a new place on the parts who were altered), causing him to show no signs of the special signature seen in other superhumans or mutants. Another explanation could be some lucky combination of the altered (and non-altered) DNA in a combination which has never occured in humans before, even if the genes themselves are still the same. A third alternative is that he is telling the truth. He is a human that for some reason somehow has taken one more step on the evolutionary ladder in the right direction compared to all other humans, coming a small step closer to the future stage where humans can control powers like the Destiny Force. In that case, the question is again if this is because of the altered DNA or because he was born with unique genes. And a fourth alternative is the possibility that it is a case of some dormant potential which is present in all humans from the time before our planet got visited by the celestials, but has never been released before, maybe because of the alien tempering with the human DNA or some other reasons. It this should turn out to be the case, he then represents an evolutionaly direction the human race could have taken if they had been left on their own by the aliens, evolving into something new.

3) High Evolutionary. He is able to control his own evolution, yet he has never shown any signs of being able to reach any of the potentials that seems to be a part of the human race. The explanation could be that he simply wasn't aware of this, and because he was in full control of his evolution only focused on evolving and genetically altering those parts of his own genetic structure which he had interest and knowledge in. For all we know he could even have removed the greatest potential of the human DNA before he had achieved enough intelligence to realize its possibilities. Instead he focused on the evolution of a perfect version of the present human body, immune system, brain, senses and intelligence and so on. Later he appears to have given himself superpowers in an artifical way through technology. If this can be seen as true evolution or an artificial evolution by just increasing properties already present or gain them by pure manipulation, I'm not sure. But I doubt it represents the true evolutionary future of the human species (in the Marvel Universe).

In my opinion, I think there should be some cleanup on this area, which would make it easier for those interested in comics to orientate themselves in what kind of superhumans there are in the Marvel Universe, how they can be divided and where they belongs.

And are the celestials satisfied with the genetic direction the humankind has "chosen"?
