Portland Mercury review pending

[edit]

At the Portland Mercury in September, Editor-in-chief Wm. Steven Humphrey requested that Mercury employee and film editor Erik Henriksen review Vampire Dog, but was impolitely rebuffed. Humphrey conducted an online reader poll to decide if he should be forced to comply, and readers overwhelmingly affirmed.[1] The next day, Henriksen acknowledged ordering the DVD with "slowest possible shipping option."[2] Twelve days later, Henriksen confirmed receipt of the DVD.[3] In November Henriksen wondered if the readers had forgotten about the film yet, wrote that he had been looking at the dog's "stupid upside-down face", and asked if actually reviewing the film was still demanded. The readers had not forgotten, and overwhelmingly affirmed.[4] In his December 20th column, Henriksen failed to review the film at all, instead gathering mini-reviews from attendees of a viewing of the film at his house; these merely listed elements of the film, without reviewing them.[5]
