Hi there,

I wrote this article. As a social researcher Values Modes is a tool something I've come across and used a lot in work for charities/ local authorities etc, and is something which I felt didn't have enough of an online presence. The article was an attempt to rectify this.

It seems like something which is particularly salient at the moment, because - thanks to the rise of UKIP - quite a lot of political strategists on the left are using the tool (most notably in the case of the IPPR paper cited in the document, but in other spaces too).

I myself believe the model has genuine academic usage and practical application, and am broadly speaking a believer in the methodology behind it. However, it is not the only model of it's kind and so, to ensure it's completely balanced, I have just gone in and added a short section about 'criticism and alternative methods'.

I am a first time editor of Wikipedia so apologies if any of my footnoting was shoddy. I thought all of the citations I used did discuss Values Modes though, with the exception, perhaps of the 'Revolt on the Left' paper, which alludes but doesn't refer by name. Happy to amend/ remove...

Thanks! Chris
