This article looks short enough and interesting for me to review within an hour. Buffaboy talk 20:13, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • If this is an unincorporated community, do residents still call the area "Valley" today?
    • Buffaboy, thank you for taking the time to engage in this review. The area is known locally as "Depot Valley" now, and it probably has not been referred to as Valley since the post office was discontinued there. The area now falls within the boundaries of the City of Romney. -- West Virginian (talk) 10:58, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Should there be information on historical demographics in the article?
    • Because it was an unincorporated area surrounding a rail depot and post office, the area never had any demographical information attached to it. This article is a unique test case for Good Article status because it is a comprehensive history of a short-lived unincorporated place. Please let me know if my answers help you in your review, and let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns moving forward. -- West Virginian (talk) 10:58, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Alright, fair enough. I do notice that there aren't many GAs for smaller or unincorporated places, which my take considerably less time than larger places, but I will not just skim through the article like I said earlier, I'll spend tomorrow working on it, and I'll check refs too.
      • Thanks for taking this article on, Buffaboy! I know it is unorthodox but there are thousands of unincorporated communities across the United States that have similar histories, but no formal demographic data. Please let me know as you have questions throughout your review and I will answer them as soon as possible. -- West Virginian (talk) 10:17, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A side note: I just passed through West Virginia about a week ago coming from the Carolinas. It's a great state to drive through. Buffaboy talk 05:34, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Buffaboy, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip through West Virginia en route from the Carolinas! This is a beautiful time of year to drive through the state. You'll have to stop and enjoy one of the state's many well known natural areas on your way through next time! -- West Virginian (talk) 10:17, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, I stopped off at the US 19 Birch River scenic overlook and took a panorama, so at least I didn't just pass through without stopping! I was busy today but I'll take care of their GAR tomorrow. Buffaboy talk 02:30, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, sorry that this is taking forever, but I can't do a GA review on an iPhone, so when I get access to the computer tomorrow I will complete it. Buffaboy talk 03:19, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Buffaboy, feel free to take your time and ping me when you are ready for me to address your comments and concerns. -- West Virginian (talk) 01:43, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I found the time to review the article:

Good Article review progress box
Criteria: 1a. prose () 1b. MoS () 2a. ref layout () 2b. cites WP:RS () 2c. no WP:OR () 2d. no WP:CV ()
3a. broadness () 3b. focus () 4. neutral () 5. stable () 6a. free or tagged images () 6b. pics relevant ()
Note: this represents where the article stands relative to the Good Article criteria. Criteria marked are unassessed

I initially thought the 8th source was questionable until I saw it was a collection of sources, so I'd say that is a WP:RS. For such a small article and an even more (in a way) obscure place, it is very clean and well-written. I wish there were a few population figures, it seems as though Valley became a ghost town in a way. Good work with the article, it is a good example of how smaller and abandoned communities can coexist with the GAs on larger cities and places. Buffaboy talk 14:45, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Buffaboy, thank you for expending the time to engage in this Good Article review! I appreciate your efforts and I look forward to working with you again on another project soon! -- West Virginian (talk) 23:45, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
