During the height of the Oka Crisis, the military seized control of the CBC, CBC NewsWorld in particular, and replaced the live-action coverage with a single talking head announcer relaying military-authorized news reports...this anchor was as I remember Valerie Pringle, who had no national profile until that time (but has had ever since....).
