There is a discussion regarding the removal of the word "city" from the article titles of Philippine cities. This may imminently affect the article name for Valencia, Bukidnon. For city names which are not unique, disambiguation alternatives are also being presented. Formal request for page move may follow after a reasonable time of discussion. Valencia City, Bukidnon → Valencia, Bukidnon — Part of series of multiple page move requests involving Philippine cities under the category Local (Philippine) city name is the same with that of another foreign municipality; and name is also the same with at least one Philippine municipality or city. This request is made after preliminary discussions for the removal of the word "city" from most of the article titles of Philippine cities and providing disambiguation wherever necessary. Some disambiguation may involve using the <cityname>, <provincename> format, regardless if it is highly urbanized, independent or component cities. In here, <provincename> purports to describe the general area and not necessary as the mother political unit of the city, since some people might have wrongly believed that this naming convention is exclusively for Philippine towns only. • San Pablo City → San Pablo, Laguna
• Santa Rosa City → Santa Rosa, Laguna
• San Juan City → San Juan, Metro Manila
• Isabela City → Isabela, Basilan

This category should have also included Alaminos City in Pangasinan; since there is another Alaminos in Laguna. The move request for Alaminos City in Pangasinan was wrongly categorized (by me -- Oops!) as Local component city name is the same with that of other foreign city, municipality but no other local city/municipal with the same name (See:Talk:Alaminos City#Requested move). But since the targeted page for the move is the same which is Alaminos, Pangasinan under either circumstance, I opt to leave it as it is except for this disclosure. --JinJian (talk) 02:04, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
