Vase-Shaped Microfossils

[edit]

Another use of VSM is for vase-shaped microfossils. As one example, "Vase-shaped microfossil (VSM) assemblages from early diagenetic carbonate nodules in >742 +/- Ma black shales of the Chuar Group, Grand Canyon, provide evidence for affinities with testate amoebae." (Vase-Shaped Microfossils from the NeoProterozoic Chuar Group, Grand Canyon: A Classification Guided by Modern Testate Amoebae, Susannah M. Porter, Ralf Meisterfeld, and Andrew H. Knoll, Journal of Paleontology, 77(3), 2003, pp. 409–429) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.94.232.216 (talk) 04:18, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
