Not the "VCU" French Film Festival
[edit]The article title is misleading -- the French Film Festival in Richmond is co-sponsored (and was co-founded) by both VCA and the University of Richmond. The article should be called "French Film Festival" or perhaps "French Film Festival (Richmond, VA)" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.163.176.113 (talk) 14:30, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- As the above comment says, this is not the title of the film festival, and it arguably never has been. The festival has always been co-sponsored by VCU and U of R and its title is French Film Festival - Richmond, Virginia. - While you have a point, I think it is important to note that for a long time, VCU called it "the VCU French Film Festival ( 2002 Source "One of the goals of the VCU French Film Festival is to expand the study of French language and cultur" // 2007 Source "The VCU French Film Festival will be held..." ) ... I would be interested in a source that says what the official name is before we change it. Ideas? Peace, MPS (talk) 18:16, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Very true about the past marketing. Because the festival was co created by VCU and U of R professors, I thought that the title was "French Film Festival" but that VCU was the primary sponsor and tried to push that reading of the title. I'm not sure what the official title was. It seems to just be "French Film Festival" (Richmond, Virginia) from looking at the website. In order to clear these things up, I emailed questions about both the past title(s) and current title to the festival organizers. I will check back in when and if they respond. - I confirmed with the festival organizers via email that the title is "French Film Festival - Richmond, Virginia". This should be changed as soon as possible to avoid further confusion.
- The original concern about the title of this article is correct and clearly confirmed by the event's webpage (ref: http://frenchfilmfestival.us/). The need to correct the inaccurate article title is not a close call. Daedalustheartificer (talk) 16:44, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
