[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Closing RM started by now indeffed user. There did not appear to be consensus for the move anyway, at least none from the discussion that's apparent (non-admin closure) — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 02:28, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
VCS Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz → Association Transport and Environment – Invert the redirection as the translation in English (used in some publications) is considerably easier to understand. Additionally, the abbreviation ('VCS') should not be part of the title. Eya Ewing (talk) 14:35, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Do not agree: VCS Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz is the official/native name – there's no one in English, but VCS is also named in French and Italian as mentioned and imho already also re-redirected.
- To redirect an English translation is the best way to handle native names that are not in English, but as pointed to, there's no English name for the association, and no one 'official' used by VCS. Before renaming and changing infobox andlead, imho there's an WP-usus to find a consensus, Roland zh (talk) 17:37, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment, If you do not agree to use the English translation as title, I suggest to rename it Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz (without the abbreviation, official name in German and title of the Wikipedia article in German). Eya Ewing (talk) 19:09, 26 September 2016 (UTC).
- Hmh, but German-language Wikipedia is wrong, see officicial address (contact) being named as in the English-language Wikipedia – VCS Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz ;-) Roland zh (talk) 17:46, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Comment: the statuses mention Swiss Association for Transport and Environment in their first article (see PDF). Tamara Tloftibê (talk) 16:42, 1 October 2016 (UTC).
- definitely not – it's a FRENCH-language pdf, as pointed to before ref naming in Switzerland and re-directions which, hence, are established :) Roland zh (talk) 18:15, 1 October 2016 (UTC)
- It is a French-language PDF of the statutes, stating that the association is founded under the names (see article 1.1 on page 2):
- Association transports et environnement [French]
- Verkehrs-Club der Schweiz [German]
- Associazione traffico e ambiente [Italian]
- Swiss Association for Transport and Environment [English]
- The statutes in German contains the same English translation of the name of the association. Tamara Tloftibê (talk) 20:12, 1 October 2016 (UTC).
- removed template "rename" (potentially trolling by sock puppets), please see also Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Soapamalkanmaime/Archive and Wikipedia talk:Requested moves, Roland zh (talk) 18:04, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
