ÜL,
Name of this article
[edit]I doubt very much that the name of this article is useful to most readers of the Wikipedia. This should probably be merged within an article about Uighur writing systems in general, as it is a stub. -- Evertype·✆ 15:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
ë and é
[edit]This article is currently titled Uyghur Latin Yëziqi and it uses ë anywhere that the word Yëziqi occurs, but in all other instances, the /e/ phoneme is written with é. The main English source we have, An Introduction to LSU, states that é was chosen over ë, and an uncited note in this article says that ë was previously used prior to 2008, when it was changed to é. Unless we can produce clearly better sources in Uyghur or Chinese, I would think that An Introduction to LSU should govern. I found a blog post on Sinoglot which expresses confusion about the use of ë. I found a message-board thread (on a site which is blacklisted by Wikipedia, so look for it at your own risk) titled "Ë ni É dep alayli(Jawaplar)", which looks like it is discussing the ë vs. é issue, but it's in Uyghur, which I can't read.
The upshot is that, unless someone comes up with some other evidence, I will suggest a move back to Uyghur Latin Yéziqi.—Greg Pandatshang (talk) 19:27, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Agree, The main English source we have, An Introduction to LSU and the Uyghur Computer Science Association state Éé. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.159.225.222 (talk) 12:20, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
